Working around my suburb, domestic daydreams and doing.
I think, have ideas about, conceptualise,
dream, imagine, see,
notice, feel for, people living in towers, houses, bungalows,
scaffolds, people living no where, people with no where
to live,
displaced and placed; the ideas of home, safety and belonging
in
times of trouble and dispossession. In times of joy.
I create narrative pieces as I like stories
and stories in paint, because they are not three act plays
but a play of ideas, colours and patterns that can evoke
meaning, feeling, experience and communicate, seduce,
confuse. I like reflecting on what I see and jumbling
time by jumbling spaces. The time it takes to look at
a painting, then re- look, then learn to look, again.
Its relationship building, like the relationship
built in paint, paint to canvas, brush to rag, selecting
approving disapproving. I like pattern and a limited pallet;
it helps keep my relationships simple.
